1978 SPECIMEN SILVER DOLLAR - 11TH COMMONWEALTH GAMES, EDMONTON
- The 1978 silver dollar commemorates the 11th Commonwealth Games, held in Edmonton, Alberta, August 3-12 of the year. The reverse design features the symbol of the Games in the centre, and the official symbols of the ten sports which comprise the Games along the perimeter. The obverse was modified specifically for this issue.

1977 SPECIMEN SILVER DOLLAR - SILVER JUBILEE ELIZABETH II
- During 1977 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the 25th anniversary of the accession to the throne. Many countries, including Canada recognized the event with a special commemorative coin. The design on the reverse depicts the throne of the Senate of Canada, which is used by the Queen of the Governor for the ceremonial occasions. The obverse was specifically designed for this coin and bears a special legend and the dates 1952-1977.

1976 SPECIMEN SILVER DOLLAR - LIBRARY OF PARLIAMENT
- The reverse of the 1976 silver dollar was employed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the completion of the library of Parliament. This attractive building was the only part of the original centre block of the Parliament Buildings that was saved during the disastrous fire of 1916. It is still in use and is a popular tourist attraction in Ottawa.
